About Prevailing Wages
The prevailing wage is the average wage paid to similarly employed workers in a specific occupation in the area of intended employment. For EB-3 PERM labor certification, the Department of Labor (DOL) requires employers to pay at least the prevailing wage to sponsored employees.
Wages are determined by SOC (Standard Occupational Classification) code and geographic area, with four levels based on experience and job requirements. Most PERM cases are filed at Level 2 or Level 3.
