USCIS AOS Adjudication Resumes After May 2026 Policy Pause – Western Region Update
A USCIS Field Office Supervisor confirms AOS adjudication has returned to normal in the western region. Decisions can now be rendered and interviews rescheduled, pending a formal Policy Manual update.
A USCIS Field Office (FOD) Supervisor from the western region has posted a significant update on Reddit, confirming that Adjustment of Status (AOS) adjudication has resumed normal operations. The supervisor clarified that this development applies specifically to the western region and does not necessarily reflect USCIS policy nationwide.
According to the post, AOS adjudications are back to normal 'until the Policy Manual is updated,' meaning field officers can now render decisions on pending cases rather than placing them in a continued status. This is a notable reversal from the apparent pause that had generated concern among applicants following the May 2026 policy discussions.
Field Offices (FOs) have also been authorized to continue scheduling AOS interviews, which had been a point of uncertainty for many applicants. The ability to schedule interviews is a critical step in the green card approval process for those adjusting status from within the United States.
Applicants in the EB-3 category who have pending AOS applications should monitor their case status closely on the USCIS online portal. While this update is encouraging, the supervisor emphasized it reflects western region operations only, and applicants in other regions should watch for similar announcements or contact their local field office for guidance.
The supervisor noted this would be their final public update and asked the community not to send direct messages. EB-3 applicants are advised to consult with their immigration attorneys for case-specific guidance, especially given ongoing uncertainty around the forthcoming Policy Manual revisions.
USCIS is seeing increased I-485 interview requirements, more frequent RFEs, and growing processing delays in 2026, directly impacting EB-3 adjustment of status applicants.
USCIS has revised TPS-related EAD expiration dates following the Supreme Court's Mullins v. Doe ruling. Haiti nationals now face a July 24, 2026 deadline; Burma, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Ethiopia, and South Sudan nationals face July 17, 2026.
USCIS has announced updated Temporary Protected Status expiration dates for seven countries. Most designations expire July 17, 2026, while Haiti's expires July 24, 2026. Employers must act promptly on I-9 reverification and work authorization planning.
