New USCIS Case Tracking API Reveals Case Location: July 2026 Update
A community-shared API endpoint from USCIS allows applicants to check case status and location directly. The unofficial tool was discovered via Discord and shared on Reddit's r/USCIS community.
Immigration applicants may have a new tool at their disposal for monitoring their USCIS cases. A Reddit user recently shared an undocumented API endpoint from the official USCIS website (my.uscis.gov) that reportedly returns case status information along with the physical location of a pending case — a detail not always visible through the standard online case status tool.
The endpoint, shared originally via a Discord community and posted to r/USCIS, follows the format of the existing USCIS case status service and can be queried using a receipt number. According to the original poster, the API response includes case location data, which could help applicants determine which USCIS service center or field office is currently handling their file.
For EB-3 applicants waiting on I-140 petitions, adjustment of status applications, or other employment-based immigration filings, knowing the physical location of a case can provide valuable context — particularly if a case has been transferred between service centers or if there are unexplained delays.
It is important to note that this appears to be an unofficial or undocumented endpoint rather than a formally published USCIS developer tool. Users should exercise caution and be aware that undocumented APIs can change or be deprecated without notice. Access should be limited to one's own receipt numbers only.
Applicants are encouraged to continue using official USCIS channels — including the Case Status Online tool and the USCIS Contact Center — as their primary resources, and to treat this API as a supplementary reference only.

USCIS has updated their case status API endpoint at my.uscis.gov, changing how applicants can programmatically check their case status. This affects anyone tracking their immigration case online.
