USCIS announced on March 31, 2026 that the FY 2027 H-1B initial registration selection process has been completed. Registrants and their representatives can now log into their myUSCIS accounts to view the selection status for each submitted registration. For those selected, H-1B cap-subject petitions may be filed beginning April 1, 2026. USCIS will accept petitions for the upcoming fiscal year during the designated filing period, as outlined in the official announcement. While this update primarily affects H-1B applicants, it has indirect relevance to EB-3 employment-based immigrants. Many workers on H-1B visas eventually transition to employment-based green card pathways, including EB-3. The H-1B selection process affects the overall pipeline of skilled foreign workers pursuing long-term U.S. residency. Employers sponsoring foreign workers should review their myUSCIS dashboards promptly to determine next steps for selected registrants. Those not selected in this initial round should be aware that USCIS may conduct additional selection rounds if the cap is not met.
